Holden vs Ford Show Nationals
Homebush exhibition center, Homebush NSW.
Friday August 29 - Sunday August 31, 2003.
I didn't know that the show started on Friday night, until about Wednesday.
Luckily I had organised a shift swap, and finished work at 3pm. I drove
home, threw my gear into the car,and it was off to Homebush to meet
up with the others.
As I pulled into the gates Ross (the organiser) saw me, said "Hi
Kel" and handed me my entrant stuff. It wasn't long before I made
my way over to the display spot, and started to get the car ready again.
While giving my car a quick shine, one of the security guards who I
had spoken to at last year's show came over to say hi. Unfortunately
he laughed at my suggestion of helping me clean my car.
By the time the show was finished I was exhausted. I asked MISSXR's
brother if he could give me a lift home, and he even said he would take
me back to my work so I could get my camera out of my desk. (Thanks
RAT!)
Saturday - MISSXR came over to pick me up in her lil pulsar, and we
headed down to the show. I put my car on the dyno at about 3pm, and
even though she was in bad need of a tune, and had been off the road
for a few weeks, she went well, and got 240.3 rwhp.
Sunday - I was at the show bright and early to see if I had won any
trophies. To my delight, I found a "runner up EB/ED XR" trophy
in front of the car. Nearly everyone from the FPV-Tickford club of NSW
won a trophy. I went around the show later on trying to find who had
won EB/ED XR, and couldn't find the winner anywhere. I asked Ross who
won, and he promised to get back to me later on with the results. Just
after lunch time, I was sitting down relaxing, watching fast and furious
on a friends TV, when I heard my name being announced."Kelli to
the roman autotek stand". I went there, and discovered I had just
won a copy of fast and furious.
Towards the end of the day, Ross finally caught up with me to tell me
the winner of "State Champ - EB/ED XR" was entrant number
729. "that's me" I said - so we went up into the office, and
he gave me the correct trophy.
It was then time to go over the dyno cell, and see the trophy presentation.
I was standing with a few mates who were all itching to get some trophy's.
Peter "Plan B" got called up for winning the Holden big block
trophy (but it isn't a big block) and then a few mins later, I was called
up to get my 5L ford trophy. YAY. I was trying to tell Peter my trophy
was bigger than his, but he didn't believe me (BUT IT IS!!!)
By 6pm, I was exhausted but still grinning from ear to ear.
Oh - Thanks to the team coca-cola boys for the goodies!!
