Bathurst 1000 - October 6th and 7th, 2001

Saturday morning, I was up at 5am. We where meeting at Glenbrook Information Centre at 6am for the trip out to Bathurst, and I still hadn't packed.

We managed to get into Bathurst by about 8:20 (I had to stop once to get octane booster, due to some dodgy premium I put in = car pinging its nuts off)

We set up our cars in the Ford display area. We had one of each model in the front , Jason's AU, Jeff's EL, Jason D's EF and my ED.

.FTR - preparing there car
Ford Motorsports had kindly given the club free tickets and pit passes, so one of the first things I did was wonder over to the pits to check everything out.

At the end of the day (and after spending too much money on T-shirts and souvenir's) we headed out to Mick's house for a BBQ. Mick was kind enough to let 12 of us stay at his place. We all crashed in the lounge room in front of a fire, listened to a rodney rude CD, and got a couple of hours sleep.

We where up again at 5am, as we had to get out to the track before 6:30.
Ford Motorsports had organised for the tickford club to do a lap of the track before the big race, so we all wanted to make sure out cars looked there best.

We lined up next to the Monaro's and waited for 8:30 when we where set to go out.

When we started moving towards the track, I got a little excited, but the full effect of what I was actually doing didn't really hit me until I pulled out on the track, and started driving down past the pits, going over the starting grid. Seeing all the thousands of people in the stands watching, made me get the best adrenaline rush.

After the lap we went back to the ford display area, parked out cars and went over to watch the start of the race.

I left at about 2:20pm, and made it home just in time to watch the end of the race. Ford didn't win, but I had the best weekend. A big thanks to Ford Motorsports for organising it all, and supplying the tickets.!!!
