Today I had an RDO (luckily). I got to sleep in!! At about 1:30pm Timbo turned up at my place. We waited for AGES for Kon to turn up. Kon Finally turned up at about 2:50 (only 30 mins late) and we where on our way. It was at this point that Tim realised he didn't have his rego papers with him, and he needed to go home and get them.

Kon and I arrived at Eastern creek at around 3:30pm. We got our numbers and waited to go in to fill in the registration papers and pay our money. When Kons number got called the security guys said to Kon "She can go in with you", Kon replied "No - she is driving too", "But its the same car isn't it?", "No - She has her own car".. the security guy then gave me a funny look.

My car the next day

After registration we went through to scrutineering.. I was expecting a bit more... They did a basic look around the car, asked if the car was stock, and if I had a helmet, and then they wrote the numbers on the windows.

We lined up behind the pits and waited for 5pm. Jeff turned up not long after we got there.

At 5pm we finally got to move around to the staging area, as I was driving past the security guard over there, who was checking to make sure the numbers on our wrist passes matched the numbers on our car - he smiled at me and said - "this is a first. a female racer".

My first run was against Kon and his Sprint.. I knew I didn't stand a chance... an experienced drag racer with 168kw at the rear wheels against me - a drag racing virgin with 130kw at the paws. I was hoping for 17's. After all - it was my first attempt. The lights changed a lot quicker that I expected..
My reaction time was 1.520, and I got a 16.0 at 139.7k's
Wow! I didn't expect that for a first run.
At that point I decided I was gonna try for high 15's.
Kon did awesome.. he got a 14.7 at 152k's
Going back out to the staging area the security guard stopping people to check the wrist pass numbers saw me, smiled and waved me through without checking my pass.
My second run got a better reaction time at 0.756. with a 16.0 at 140.19k's
My 3rd run was a bit of a joke.. I stuffed up the launch, and the gear changes.. got a 16.2 at 139.38k's
I was going ok, but I couldn't crack the 15sec mark.

My next 3 races were against a Green VK.
The first time I lost. A 1.113 reaction time, with a 16.0 at 140.68k's
The 2nd run I also lost. A 0.983 reaction time, with a 15.9 at 140.95k's
WooHoo - I finally cracked the 15 sec mark!!
At my final run, he beat me off the mark, but by the time I changed to 2nd, I was in front. I think this encouraged me to try and keep the lead. I managed to keep the lead the rest of the way and when the light went up in my lane to indicate I had won I was pretty happy.
I got a 15.7 at 142.53k's.

I really enjoyed this, even though it seemed to chew threw my petrol, I didn't mind - I had heaps of fun. I will defiantly be back to do this again, and hopefully get a mid 15.
