Kids Motorsports Day
Oran Park, NSW.

Sunday December 22nd, 2002

"The Rotary Club of St George Central Inc. (in association with Oran Park Motorsport) invites you to attend our Annual Children’s Charity Motorsport Day"

With only a couple of weeks notice the Tickford Owners club of NSW was trying to organise a display at the charity day for kids. The day was designed so that sick kids could have a day when they can forget there worries, and go for a hot lap in some cars around oran park, and also meet Santa.

This morning, I got up bright and early, gave my car a quick clean, and headed out to oran park. I packed all my stuff away, went to the drivers brief (I was giving kids hot laps in my car), filled in my details, signed a childcare form (just making sure the drivers didn't do anything mean to the kiddies) and then went over to scruiteneering.

It was pretty hot today. I think it got up to 42 degrees. I was in long sleeves and long pants, and helmet most of the day. Everytime I got a chance I ran over to one of the traders to get a bottle of water. It didn't bother me too much though. It was worth it to see the smile on the kiddies faces after the hot lap was over.

After the burnout display I was exhausted, I parked my car with the rest of the club display (I was the only one in the club doing hotlaps) and tried to find a nice shady spot to sit in.

By 4pm we were all exhausted, and started to head home.

It was really a good day. The kids all seemed to love it. I don't think they wanted to leave at the end of it. Hopefully it will be bigger and better next year.
