MotorEx.
Exhibition Center.
Homebush, NSW.
Friday July 12th 2002
I wasn't sure if I was going to go to MotorEx or not until Tuesday night.
I had told the club I would go if they couldnt get numbers, and I guess
a lot of people couldnt be without there cars for the weekend (I guess
that's what you get, when your cars are daily drivers).
I met Ben at Auburn Maccas (full sik) at 6:50pm. We drove over to the
exhibition center, and met up with Dave and Bev (Blue EF XR6) and went
inside to set up our display. The organisers had given us a little more
space than we had booked, so we rang up a few people trying to get some
extra cars to put on display. Stretch agreed, but wouldn't have his car
ready till the next morning.
We finished setting up at about 10:20, and Ben dropped me back at my
place before heading over to car lovers to help stretch clean his car.
Saturday July 13th 2002
Stretch picked me up from my place at 9:00am, with Cara following in
the KA. We headed out to the exhibition center, and had had to sweet talk
the guards into letting stretches car in the hall.
We were all ready to go by 10am, and then the show was open to the public.
There were a LOT of really nice cars there. It was more hot rods, and
muscle cars, than hotted up 4's. Lots of car clubs were there. The Tickford
club was in between the Street Commodores stand, and some corvette's.
I stayed at the show all day. Right up until they closed the doors to
the public. (I get paranoid about my car). I got a lift home from one of
the club members, and made up some info cards for the cars, before hitting
the sack.
Sunday July 14th 2002
Stretch picked up up again this morning. Driving the KA this time. We
headed over to the site, parked outside, and then had to carry all our
gear into the hall. I only had 2 tickets on me, so Cara waited outside,
until we went inside to find some spare tickets.
As soon as the show was open to the public, there were people everywhere!!
It was really packed out. If I wasn't busy chatting to people interested
in the club, or taking photo's, I was handing out falcon magnets (or sticking
them on things)
At one point in the morning I went over to say hi to Jason - the editor
of street commodores, and owner of "Blown". He guessed who I was (Maybe
the XR8Chic numberplate on my car, and XR8 jacket gave it away??)
I went over the a stand that was doing airbrushing on caps. I got a
hat made up that has XR8Chic on the front. and yellow and orange flames
going back towards a black background. there was a few interesting airbrushed
pics there... including one of Jessica Alba (Dark Angel) in a VERY revealing
tight leather outfit.
The show closed at 6pm, and we were all packed up and ready to go by
6:10. We were one of the first to drive out, and I was home by 6:45. It
was a very good show, I spent too much money as usual, and will defiantly
be attending next year.
