I was up bright and early in the morning today. Had to be out at Oran
park by 8:30am and I had no idea how to get there. 

I met Dave at his place, and then we met up with Jeff at a near by Mobil
servo. We pumped up our tyres, checked our oil and water and then we
where on our way.

 When I got out to Oran park, I found everyone crowded around the open
bonnet of a brand new XR8 Pursuit Ute. With only 6000k's on the clock,
the owner was bringing it out for a fang around the track!!

We had a safety briefing, we walked around the track, where put into
groups according to our experience, and then we hit the track.
My group (the red group) was first. I did a few laps before pitting, and
getting an instructor in my car to give me a few pointers. I then got a
few more laps before the session was up. 
During my second session an instructor got into my car, in the passenger
seat - he turned to me and said 

"You have obviously been here before", 
"No", I replied.
"Really? You haven't been here before.?" 
"No - this is the first time I have been here." 
"But you have been on a track before?",
"Yes - I have been to eastern creek once." 
"Oh - ok then".. 

I thought that was pretty cool.. He thought I was a good driver.

 After the 2nd session I went out in front of the new pit garages, and
took a few photo's of all the guys in the other groups. Jeff was going
awesome, he seemed to make it all look so easy. But he nearly cooked his
auto transmission in the process.. Oh well - he should get a manual !!

During my last session I got Timbo to time me. I got 62.6 secs. Not bad
for a first attempt. and I am still yet to master the left hander after
the straight.
After the last session the instructors got there G-Tech out, and we all
decided to do 0-100 times. I was aiming for a low 7, but as I took off,
I got major axle tramp, I changed to second, and then hit the rev
limiter!! Grrr.. 8.36 secs.. I wanted to do it again, but we had quite a
few more people to get through. 

I had a pretty cool day. I am defiantly wanting to get out there again,
and see if I can get my lap time under 60 secs.
