Australian Academy of Motorsports
High Performance Drive Day
Oran Park, NSW.

Saturday  July 20th, 2002

Another early morning. I met up with Duane and followed his beautiful red pursuit ute out to Oran Park. We got there just on 8am, and it wasn't long before all the other participants for the day arrived.

There were heaps of BMW's and WRX's, a VX2 SS, a Peugeot GTI, a VL commodore, a honda NSX,  a race car (rotary) and a few others.

After we had our briefing, we were off to do a lap of the south circuit on foot. We all walked around, and the instructors explained where the apexes are, and demonstrated race lines in a toyota soarer.

After we got back, we were split into groups by our experience, and went out on the track. I was in the "yellow" group... the medium group. Duane went into the "green" group - the more experienced drivers.

At one point during the day I let the instructor Brad take my car for a spin around the track. He couldn't get the grin off his face. He loved the suspension, and the low to mid range torque. He was hitting 180km/h on the straight. (I was only hitting 170km/h).
