Australian Academy of Motorsports
High Performance Drive Day
Oran Park, NSW.

Saturday  October 12th, 2002

I was running a little late this morning. The drive day was scheduled to start at 8:30, but I never left my place until 9:15. I was only going out to do some photography, so I figured it wouldn't matter if I missed the signing in, and safety briefing. It took me 45 mins to get out to Oran Park, but when I arrived the group was only just starting there track walk. (Seems I wasn't the only person running late this morning)

While the group does there walk around the track, learning about where to apex, and the correct lines, an instructor will drive past and demonstrate how its done. The instructor doing it this spotted me near the pits, and I got to be passenger while he drove around the track in his beautiful Lexus Soarer 2.5L twin turbo.

There was a lot of nice cars out there today. A car dealership that deals with jap imports was out there with quite a few cars fresh off the boat, so I spent most of the day trying to get as many photo's of the cars as I could.

After lunch I gave the keys of my car to Brad - one of the driving instructors, so he could do a few laps, while I get a few pics. He said he was impressed with the setup, and that the 3.9 diff ratio really made the whole package.

Shortly after that they let me have a few laps of my own. As always - it was awesome fun. The more I do track work - the more I like it. The Australian Academy of Motorsports are planning a skid car day in the near future - and I will defiantly be in that!!
