| Wakefield Park - November 10th
Today I went to Wakefield Park with the Mustang Owners Club, for there Gentleman's drive day. I met up with Jeff, Tim, Dave, Tracey, Chris and Nat at Liverpool, and we all cruized down to Goulbourn together. When we got into Goulbourn we had a brief stop at Macca's for some breakfast, and then we headed out to the track. There was a wide variety of cars there. Mustangs (of course), Tickfords, Commodores, Porsche's, Skylines, Mini's, BMW's and even a Ferrari!!!! After a brief safety briefing we where off. |

.It only took a couple of laps to get used to the track this time.
Even though I wasn't pushing the car very hard, I was passing quite a few
cars.
Natalie had a few laps in mustang cobra (2001 convertible) and I passed her on the straight. :-) I went up the tower to take a few photo's of the other cars, and got to see a few interesting things. I car hit the first corner after the straight and kept going... and going... and going.. An AU XR6 gave it a little too much on the corner before the straight and ended up spinning around and around in the dirt. He ended up facing the wrong direction. |
| I decided to let Brad have a drive of my car. He is a driving instructor
for the Australian Academy of Motorsports, and he REALLY knows how to drive.
He had my car going a lot faster than I realised it would do. I kept an
eye on when he was breaking, and changing gears and where he started turning.
He then took me out for a few laps in his ED XR8 Sprint. That was AWESOME. You can really feel the extra power (he has 13rwkw's more than me). I think he would have gone all day if he hadn't have almost run out of petrol. When it started surging, I thought he would pull into the pits, but he kept going and did a couple of extra laps. After that I had another few laps. I think I went a bit faster, as I was trying to copy what Brad had just done in my car. It was an AWESOME day, the weather was great, and we all had a great time. I am currently organising a Wakefield day for the Tickford Owners club of NSW and hopefully it will be as successful as today was. |
