Wakefield Park, NSW.
At 4:30am I headed down to Wakefield. I arrived around 7am and headed over to race control to sign on so I could work in scruitineering. In between checking the Mirage Cup cars, and GT Performance cars, I managed to watch a little bit of the racing. I was over in the race secretary's office when one of the GT Performance cars (the winaride GTS commodore) plowed into flag point 6. It moved the whole concrete structure over 2 inches. The flaggies were OK though. At the end of the days racing, and with no accommodation available in the area, I headed home. Back up again at 4:30am on Sunday morning, I headed back down. It was freezing, and I ended up staying in the race secretaries office most of the day. Was an action packed day of racing. Luffy reigning supreme in the BrUtes, and Bowey showing who is king in the Nations Cup. Working as a motorsports official is hard work - but it is really worth it.!! Its heaps of fun, plus you get to up close to all the action. |
